Items Most Needed
"Take a look
around - your trash may be someone's treasure."
We all have too much. We all have things
which we no longer use or think about but which are cherished by those who have
virtually nothing. We discard plastic bags when the poor of Nicaragua use them
for walls!
Our Christmas
and outdoor candles are often useless decorations, while they are the only means
of light for the poor.
The very
cardboard boxes we throw in the trash each week are treasured by those who have
no ways for storage. The simplest things become valuable in the hands of the
poor.
Look around and
I am sure you will see countless items which are your "trash" but can become
their "treasure".
-Msgr. Richard L. Wetter
An awesome
fact:
42 semi-truck
containers each with 1,000 boxes were sent to Nicaragua in 2006.
